Look closely at this picture and the title of the ORIGINAL Declaration of Independence (more).
The original (here) 1776 Declaration of Independence minimizes “united” and focuses on the “States of America.”
Today, in 2018, the country has a too-powerful, centrally controlled federal government that can overrule the States. And this is a visual reminder of the type of government that was intended. From the founding it has been a steady and total erosion. What should win out in the long-term of history is the people. And the need and desire for more freedom and cohesion to local norms and values. Ie. Smaller, more localized forms of government. There is far too much power centralized in the President of the United States of America. There is far too much power centralized in the Supreme Court.
People lose their minds over Presidential elections. And Supreme Court appointments. Why? All-powerful roles. When the Declaration of Independence was rolled out in 1776 there were 13 states. And far, far, far less people. The Federal government today has far more power. One President exerting more power and influence. 9 judges. Both with power that is now over a ton, ton more people.
