How we have gotten use to the internet for the last 5-10 years or so (searching on Google, communicating on Facebook) may be about to take a huge shift. Far be it here to know exactly how this will shake out. Suffice it to say, today’s web titans could be in for some big surprises. Recent upstarts (such as Instagram and WhatsApp were happy to sell off into the giants). However, this next wave of coming innovations may feature some hardened leaders that are ready to stick it out and break through on their own. Common sense is that the web is not a static place. There is a constant flow of new ideas in technology. And every so often things kind of get turned on their head (just as Facebook and Netflix shook up the old internet). Within a very short period of time those companies carved out their space (chart with the history of the biggest internet companies here). An entire country can move into the next big thing pretty rapidly when it is just the typing of a few keyboard keys.
